Hunter Commission 1882 (Indian Education Commission)

The Hunter Commission of 1882, appointed by Lord Ripon, was India's first Education Commission. It shifted focus to mass primary education in the mother tongue under local boards, introduced vocational vs academic streams (Bifurcation) in high schools, and promoted Indian private enterprise over missionary monopoly.
